February 14th sees the return of Nick Martin to our meeting in the Friends Meeting House in Bakewell. People who remember his captivating talk about the Cairngorms will eagerly anticipate his presentation on the Western Isles of Scotland including Skye and the mysterious Outer Hebrides. The talk will then move north to the magical Shetlands with images of landscapes and wildlife from orchids to eagles, skuas and otters. It’s an area which many bird watchers go for birding holidays so there is the opportunity to spot some of the magnificent locations. The puffin is always a favourite but is having a difficult time at the moment with numbers decreasing as a result of a decline in sand eels which they depend on to feed their young. This part of the world has a huge fascination for many of our members and will be a very popular talk.
