The combination of mountaineering and birding has dominated the speaker’s view of the world. He will explain how and why with examples of birds in the hills and other wild places both at home and abroad. From his very early days Paul enjoyed wild and hilly places, rock climbing and general mountaineering. His time in the hills generated an interest in wildlife, particular birds and this evolved into a wider interest in birding both at home and abroad. His ideal days combine both interests either undertaking bird surveys, photographing birds or just enjoying wandering the hills and enjoying the wildlife. He contends that there are several similarities between birding and mountaineering which can influence your whole life and even distort your whole view of the world. Sounds intriguing!
